Ministry Team at Island Community Church

 Senior Pastor Tony Hammon has served at Island Community Church since 1974. Until 1989 he served as school principal and has been the senior pastor since then. Tony has a unique testimony, since he was a self-professing atheist when he graduated from college. But he was challenged to disprove the claims of Christ and the Bible. After just over a year-long attempt to do so, he came to the conclusion that the Bible was the Word of God and that Jesus had to be who He claimed to be, the Messiah, the Son of God.

Tony holds three degrees - an associate's degree in physical education; a bachelor's degree in biology education from the University of Miami; and a Master's degree in educational administration from Tennessee Temple University.Tony is married to Colleen and they have four children, Troy, Stephen, Kathy, and Trent.

Mr. Jim Roper, Island Christian School Principal, has served at ICC since 2001 as the fifth grade teacher and elementary team leader. Jim holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in administration from Baptist Univeristy and a graduate degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College. Jim is married to Mary Anne and has four children, Stephanie, Celest, Sparky, and John. He also has one grandson, Troy. 

Wayne Porter, Elder, associate pastor, worship leader. Wayne has two degrees - undergraduate from Florida Bible College and a Masters in music from Pensacola Christian College. Tina Porter, Wayne's wife, has served in numerous positions at ICC. They are the parents of four daughters, Lisa, Karen, Natalie, and Kathleen. 

Richard Overfield was recently added as an elder to Island Community Church during a service held February 2010. Richard has been a big part of the church focusing on the financial aspects, as well as serving as chairman to the annual Christmas Festival and auction. He also sits on the ICC school board and owns Keys Accounting and Tax Service in Key Largo. Richard and his wife Debra have 2 sons, Ryan and Nate both graduates of ICS. Richard and Debra live in Venetian Shore, in Islamorada. 

John DeLong also became an elder to Island Community Church in February 2010. He is a faithful servant to God and Island Community Church with his diligent service with the church operations as well as at ICS. John has been a seasonal member of the church since 1980 but moved to the Keys full time in 2006. John and his wife Robin live in Plantation with their daughter Sara.
