The following statement was made by the Florida State Department of Education and accurately represents their position on accreditation: "By law, the Department of Education does not act as an approval or accrediting agency. The Department is allowed only to register certain non-public schools and to collect certain prescribed data. In Florida, accreditation of schools/programs is entirely voluntary and is achieved by adopting and maintaining the academic standards prescribed by an independent association."
While over 75% of all private schools in the state of Florida are not accredited, Island Christian School enjoys full accreditation status by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS), the National Council for Private Schools Accreditation (NCPSA) both of which are nationally recognized by the Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS) and our international affiliate, the International Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (IACCS). FACCS accredited schools are recognized and accepted as such across the country. In addition, as of the 2011-2012 school years, Island Christian School enjoys regional accreditation with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
